Glenwood Marion Pierson, III (Glen) was born May 21, 1959, and passed away December 4, 2024. He was 65 years old. He grew up in Gadsden and graduated from Westminster Christian School (now known as Westbrook). He enjoyed playing sports in high school and was fortunate to have some talented teammates. In his senior year, his team won the state championship in football and the national championship in basketball in the Christian School Division.
Glen graduated from Auburn with a degree in Organization Management. After graduation, he worked at his father’s automobile dealership, Pierson Chevrolet. He enjoyed playing golf with his dad even if neither of them was any good.
In the mid-nineties, he felt called to study counseling at Jacksonville State University. He started working in the drug and alcohol rehabilitation inpatient centers and really loved the work. He worked in Oklahoma, Florida and Tennessee. One of the places where he worked was the largest inpatient center in the world with 265 clients. He also worked at a very small center where there were only 5 clients at the time.
He is preceded in death by his father, Glenwood Marion Pierson, Jr. and is survived by his mother, Evelyn Mathews Pierson of Rainbow City, AL; his sister, Fran Pierson Lyons (Randy) of Mobile, AL; his daughters, Michelle Lynn Pierson of Las Vegas, NV and Alicia Ann Dunn of Rainbow City, AL; and six grandchildren; Jake Alexander Entrekin of Gadsden, AL, London Rae Atchley of Las Vegas, NV, Jonathan Braden Atchley of Gadsden, AL, Kassidie Blake Jennings of Sandy Valley, NV, Ayana Marie Jensen of Gadsden, AL and Ashton James Ellison of Las Vegas, NV; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He was especially proud of his granddaughter in Nevada who won Female Athlete of the Year at her high school this year. Glen loved his family, dogs, cats and Auburn football.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity in Glen’s honor. The funeral will be held Saturday, December 7th at 2:00pm at Gadsden First United Methodist Church with visitation held prior to the funeral at 1:00pm.
