Clifford Eugene Ausborn Jr., age 87, of Hokes Bluff, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff, 5052 Main Street Hokes Bluff, Alabama 35903. Clergy will be Oliver "O.J." Johnson. January Millican will give the eulogy. Burial will follow at Union #3 Cemetery, Croft Ferry Road, Ballplay, Alabama 35903. Visitation will he held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Clifford was a member of First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff and was active in the Hokes Bluff Senior Citizens Group for several years. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. He retired after 22 years of service from the City of Gadsden Fire Department. He also operated his own business from home for many years. Clifford was married to his wife Faye for 49 wonderful years. Upon his retirement, they traveled the U.S. full-time in their motorhome for eight years. Clifford and Faye were avid Alabama fans. They were season ticket holders and members of Tide Pride. They were not only fortunate to attend every football game during that time but also attended the Rose Bowl, many SEC Championships games and other bowl games. Clifford was able to attend a filming of his favorite game show "The Price is Right" years ago. He was an active member of his community for many years and was a retired member of the Lions Club of Hokes Bluff. Clifford had a special bond with his loyal companion, his dog Crimson for 13 years, who will miss him dearly.
Clifford is preceded in death by his son, Major Jeff "Oz" Ausborn; and parents, Gene and Sadie Ausborn; sisters, Betty Rowland and JoAnn Wyatt.
He is survived by the love of his life, Faye Ausborn, and their three grandchildren, Emily Ausborn, Eric Ausborn, and Shelby Ausborn. His special cousins-in law, Londa Johnson, January Johnson Millican, Dara Johnson, Larry Lane, Pat Lane, Cody Lane; and cousins in North Carolina. Clifford and Faye also have their "Air Force" sons, Paul (Kathy) Bedesem, Scott "Bobo" (Andrea) Bowen, James "J.R." Boddy, Oliver "O.J." Johnson, Mark Fissel, James Jones, Paul Trujillo, Chris Neufeld, and Mike Smith.
He is also survived by his three children from his previous marriage, sons, Steve and Stanley; daughter Florence; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eric Ausborn, James "J.R." Boddy, Scott "Bobo" Bowen, Steve Saunders, Leonard Kiser, Tony Simpson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Lane, Don Freece, Allen White, Clayton Lawless, the late Ronnie Johnson.
