No truer words could be spoken of Carolyn Chavers, who went to be with Jesus on July 5, 2023. Christian love and joy define Carolyn’s character. She loved God and people, in that order. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Carolyn was born on December 31, 1929 and proudly told anyone who would listen that she was 93 years old. She was the perfect example of a life well lived. She served Dwight Baptist Church and her community for many years. She loved Auburn football, antiques, anything blue, and her friends and special caregivers at Mountain Cove Assisted Living. She loved to laugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Frank Chavers, and her daughter-in-love, Anita Chavers. She leaves to cherish her memories her son, King; daughter, Amy (Ricky) Smallridge; granddaughters, Hannah (Josh) Huff, and Abby Smallridge. Grandson, Lacy (Suzy) Sexton. Chosen children, Sherry (Mike) Underwood, Julie (Kerry) Payne, and Kelly (David) Cochran. Pallbearers will be David Cochran, David Bearden, Kerry Payne, Troy Wagnon, Terry Snow, and Greg Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Thomas and Booie Chambers.
Collier Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will be directing. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 8 from 12:00-2:00. Graveside service will be at Crestwood Cemetery at 2:30 with Rev. Eddie Gooch and Dr. Fred Malone officiating. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the Collier Butler Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Maximizing Mental Health (https://www.maximizingmentalhealthinc.com/ ) or Dwight Baptist Church.
“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised” (Proverbs 31:29-30).
