Funeral service for Billy Jim Phillips, 80, of Gadsden, will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 2pm at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Brother Rickey Haygood will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Forrest Home Methodist Church Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing the service.
Billy was a caring and loving husband, older brother, and friend. He never met a stranger and gave to others every chance he could. He loved all of his pets, especially Cooki and Precious.
Billy is preceded in death by his father Joe Ben Phillips, mother Louis Chambers Phillips, infant Joe Benny Phillips, and Joan Sorrells.
He is survived by his wife Rita Lemons Phillips, daughters Pamela Raper (Gary), Kathy Phillips, son David Phillips, step daughter Stacy Battles, step son Larry Martin Jr, all of Gadsden; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Lynda (Ricky) Echols, Barbra Satterfield, Henry County; brothers Johnny (Joyce) Phillips, Mississippi, Jack Philips, Kentucky, Bob (Mae) Phillips, Tennessee; Aunts Elaine Hoffman, Bobbie Goss, Henry County; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Bart Phillips, Charles Sorrells, James Spurling, Jack Spurling, Roy Jones, and Lewis Masters.
The family would like to make a special thanks to Compassus Hospice, Geneta, Jessica, Donald, and Emily. Alacare Hospice, and all others that helped during Bill’s sickness.
Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
