John Michael Apland

John was born on March 11, 1954, in Deadwood, SD the son of Ralph and Joyce (Blando) Apland who preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was united in marriage for 30 years to Gail Casteel in Fulton, MO, who survives. John retired from Callaway Nuclear Plant in 2009 as a Nuclear Tech. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed spending time around a good bon fire, riding around his property on his four-wheeler, and putzing around in his garage. John enjoyed hanging out by his pool in the summer and loved spending time with his grandchildren. John was a good friend to many and an even better “Grumpy”. He loved Bailey's, sharing a cold beer over conversation, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include, one son, Jaeson Hanrahan (Crystal) of Sac City, IA; one step-son, Daniel Sutton (Amber) of Fulton, MO; one brother, Steven Apland (Fran) of Rapid City, SD; one sister, Carol Duvall of Spearfish, SD; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan, Kaeden, Chaelen, Elsie, Eva, Edythe and Enrietta; special friend, Jennifer David and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Toni Henderson and Karen Case and one brother, Robert Apland.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
