Master Sergeant, William “Bill” Matthew McCarty, Retired, age 60 of Yorba Linda, California died unexpectedly of a Heart Condition on Sunday, March 20, 2016.He was born on September 3, 1955 to Ignatius Matthew Arko and Mary Louise Taggart, Bill was the oldest of 7 siblings: Sharon, Gregory, Shawna, Michele, Robin, Carey, and Carmel. He was a role model and leader to all of the siblings.In 1975, Bill joined the United States Army and proudly served for the next 22 years, including the first Gulf War, retiring in 1997. Top, Wildman, Wild Bill, Joe California - as Bill was known by his fellow service personnel, embodied the true meaning of “Servant Leadership”. He had a positive impact on the lives of many of his Military compatriots during his service.Bill graduated with a BS in Computer Science from Louisiana State University in 1999 and was an avid alumni and a staunch fan of LSU football. Bill spent the last 5 years of his retired life back in California living close to his family.
