Richard “Rich” Eaton, 77, passed away on September 22, 2024 in Orange, California. Born on December 7, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa to his mother Sheila and father Richard. At an early age, Richard moved to California.
After graduating from Hollywood high school in 1965, Rich furthered his education at Cal State University at LA where he met his beloved wife Charlene. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, during the Vietnam war. His time served demonstrated commitment and resilience that would define his later professional and personal endeavors.
Rich’s 30 year career as a senior tax compliance officer for the state of California was characterized by dedication and hard work.
A man of faith, Rich attended the United Methodist Church. His Christian beliefs and love for Christ guided him through his life.
Rich’s vivacious spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Rich had the ability to light up a room with his laughter and jokes. He was a loving husband to Charlene Eaton for 49 years and a devoted father to Ryan and Samantha Eaton, all of whom survive him.
Rich found joy during his retirement with hobbies, which included reading, his love for sports, traveling with Charlene, and expanding his knowledge on various topics, reflecting his lifelong love for learning. Rich was also an active member in OLLI, a passion of his for many years.
Rich’s legacy is not only in the laughter he shared, but also in the lives he touched with his joyful spirit and love for life. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, September 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832.
