Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Schraeder, a long-time resident of San Bernardino and San Clemente, died peacefully on November 30, 2012. Born December 10, 1924, Betty, the oldest of five children, moved to San Bernardino in 1925 where her father opened a furniture store, Benson Furniture Company. After graduating from Immaculate Heart College in 1945, Betty taught school in San Bernardino and in Alaska, where she met her husband, Clyde. They were married in 1949 at St. Bernadine's in San Bernardino. Betty taught primary grades in the San Bernardino school district for 47 years. After retiring in 1993, Betty moved to San Clemente. Betty was preceded in death by her son, David, and her husband, Clyde. She is survived by sons Steven Schraeder of Placentia, Mark (Veronica) Schraeder of San Diego, and Robert (Nancy) Schraeder of Fullerton; by grandchildren Matthew, Jacob, Kyle, Karen, Allison, Ryan and Jenny; and by two great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Dylan. She is also survived by three sisters: Barbara Straznickas; Peg Bierschbach; and Cathy (Phil) Wagner. A viewing will take place on Tuesday, December 4 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, Fullerton. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 5 followed by interment at Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bettys honor to Children's Hospital, Los Angeles.
