With the heaviest of hearts, we regretfully announce the passing of Greta Sophia “GG” Walton. She left us on November 12, 2022, while in the company of her dearest friend, Julie Bagdonas, her son Dominic and her youngest granddaughter, Zoë. Her passing was peaceful. Greta drew her last breath at home where she wanted to be, in her space, with music playing and loved ones close by. She had been diagnosed with stage-four ovarian cancer in September 2022. She was 69 years old.
Greta spent 32 wonderful years working for United Airlines, where she was known as “The Royal Queen of LAX United”. Just before beginning her bed rest at home, her UA family blessed her with a beautiful party. We are all thankful she was able to experience it. In the hours leading up to her passing, she was visited at home by friends, coworkers and family who showered her with love and encouragement. Greta was extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to say goodbye to her loved ones on her terms.
She was born in Urmston, England, on May 29, 1953, to William and Greta Fahey and was the youngest of 3 children. She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Walton, and her son, Dominic Walton, his wife, Sharra Walton, and their children, Aubrey Rose Walton, London Olivia Walton and Zoë Berlin Walton.
Greta’s friends and family knew her as loving, charming, fun and kind. However, she was never afraid to tell you how she felt. She was outspoken and authentic, so you always knew where you stood with her. You couldn’t help but respect her. She brought class wherever she went and style to everything she did. Greta was a daughter, sister, friend, mother, and a “GG”, but most of all, she was her unique self. Her larger-than-life personality, strength and love will always be remembered. Truly, it was a privilege to have known her, and we cannot truly express how deeply she is missed. Long live our Royal Queen in our hearts and minds forever.
