Ed Bennett, 92, born March 13, 1929 in Conneaut, Ohio died March 28, 2021 in Fullerton, California. He is survived by Nancy, his wife of 68 years, his children William Bennett, of Fullerton, Barbara (husband Mike) Blumenthal of Princeton, New Jersey, Thomas Bennett and grandson Dillon Bennett of Corona, CA, Michael Blumenthal, (wife Estee) and great-grandson Noah James Blumenthal of Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by his son James Bennett. In addition he leaves loving nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Ed graduated from Rowe High School in Conneaut, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952, serving 3 years in Okinawa during the Korean war. In 1954, he graduated from the Electronics Institute of Technology in Detroit, Michigan. Ed married Nancy Guild on January 10, 1953. After moving to California in 1954, he worked at Douglas Aircraft for 15 years. Ed ran a family restaurant in Fullerton, the Steak Ranch, from 1969 to 1975. He went on to become a real estate broker in Orange County, running his own office, Ed Bennett Realty, until his retirement in 2018.
Ed’s life also revolved around the California Angels. Ed and Nancy became season ticket holders in 1975, and attended almost every game from 1975 through 2020, nearly 4,000 games.
Ed assumed leadership roles in a wide range of community organizations, including Cosmopolitan International, American Diabetes Association, Placentia Little League, Morse Elementary PTA, Valencia High School Boosters, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and many others
Due to COVID restrictions, a celebration of Ed’s life will be planned at a later date.
In Ed’s memory donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, or any charity that donors choose.
