He was born on May 23, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dennis, known for his dedication to his family, is survived by his loving and devoted
wife, Loa, twin daughters Laurie and Christine, grandchildren Hailey, Cole, Preston, and
Olivia, and sons-in-law Matthew and Andrew. He is also survived by his sisters Diane
Halvorson (Rod) and Lana Elliot (Rick).
He was preceded in death by his father, Rex, and mother, Beth.
Dennis grew up in the city of Whittier, attending Sierra High School where he met his
high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Loa.
He served in the Army from 1965 to 1967 with one active tour of duty in Vietnam. He
later pursued a career as a Cable Splicer for Pacific Bell where he worked for 30 years.
He was a skilled professional who took pride in his work.
He was an honest, hard working man who enjoyed the simple things in life. There was
nothing he valued more than the love of his beautiful wife and family. His legacy is his
deep love and unwavering commitment to his wife of 57 years, one of which his
children and grandchildren are so grateful to have witnessed through the years.
In his free time, Dennis enjoyed fishing and passing on his love for the sport to his
grandsons, Cole and Preston. He also found excitement in bimonthly trips with his wife
to local casinos, relishing the thrill of the occasional "big win." Additionally, he took
pleasure in yard work and meticulously caring for his perfect lawn.
Dennis was a “foodie” and looked forward to lunch out with his family, often studying
the menu ahead of time to pick out the perfect meal to look forward to.
"Dad" was called upon by his daughters on a regular basis for the occasional home
improvement project. They considered him at times to be their personal handyman as
no one could hang a picture straighter or more precisely.
He was a homebody who loved to relax and recline on his favorite end of the couch
watching tv for many hours at a time. Dennis also enjoyed spending time in his kitchen
where he cooked for his family. Some famous fan favorites included his potato salad,
Thanksgiving stuffing, ranch dressing, and baked beans. Despite the occasional trip to
the grocery store, Dennis was always home because that is where he loved to be the
most. Although he is loved and will be missed more than one could imagine, his family
is comforted in knowing he is finally at peace in his final call “home”.
As per his wishes, there will be no services held to honor Dennis's life. His family and
friends will cherish the memories they shared with him.
