Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 29th, 1941, Pat was one of four children welcomed by Irma (Anderson) and Harold Oliver Milyard. She was raised in a loving home and maintained close relationships with her siblings. Pat earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Colorado and, following a brief tenure as a teacher, pursued a career in social work. For many years she served countless families through her work with the Denver County Department of Human Services. She was most proud of the work she did helping children.
Pat was a strong, independent woman. She was an intellectual who, as an avid reader and researcher, took great care of her mind. She enjoyed working the earth with her hands and was a master gardener. Pat liked classic rock music, margaritas, and card games. She liked the color blue because it made her eyes pop. She was a great cook. She was a beautiful woman who cared about the way she presented herself. She loved taking photos and participated in the Miss Colorado pageant. She had a deep love for cultural diversity and traveling the world. Pat had been to Canada, Nova Scotia, Cancun, Mazatlán, England, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Bangkok, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Aruba, Curacao, Jamaica, Cozumel, and St. Thomas Island.
There was nothing Pat loved more in this world than her boys, John and Christopher. Being a mother truly was her greatest accomplishment. She raised good men who became good husbands and fathers. Pat taught her children to seek joy in this life and to laugh loud, often, and until it hurts.
Pat was a beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, and so much more. She will be dearly missed by her sons John Hankins II and Christopher Hankins, and her grandchildren Brooke Hankins, Tim Gregory, Easton Hankins, Branden Hankins, and Dustin Hankins. She is greeted in the ever after by her mother and father.
A Celebration of Pat's Life will be held on Thursday, April 17th, 2025 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins. Those who may not be able to attend in person can join via livestream. A light reception and a time of fellowship, laughter, and remembrance will follow. Memories of Pat and words of condolence for her family are welcome at resthavencolorado.com.
