Born to Benjamin and Elizabeth Gardener on July 4, 1932 in Lafayette, Indiana Mary spent her childhood days on the farm with her older siblings Don and Beverly.
During her school years, Mary and her family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where she graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1950 and later on went to attend Mesa Community College. Throughout her professional career, Mary worked as a hairstylist, a banker and ultimately retired from her career as a state income tax auditor for Arizona Department of Revenue.
On August 24,1952 she married Bert Delbert Kinard in California. The two moved to Arizona where they spent the majority of their marriage. Bert and Mary had two children together, Debbie and Chuck. They enjoyed going fishing together and spending time at their cabin. They were married for 58 years before Bert passed away in 2010. In 2014, Mary returned to Fort Collins, Colorado to be near her family.
In life, Mary was known for her strong opinions and talkative nature. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and found great joy in spending time with her family. In her spare time she enjoyed braiding rugs, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. These hobbies allowed her to provide her family with many blankets, rugs, clothes and halloween costumes that will last years to come.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, Chuck; her husband, Bert; her daughter, Debbie; and her brother, Don. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Sullivan; her grandchildren, Sarah Wilson and Jared Kinard; great granddaughters, Emma Elizabeth and Anna Marie; and her beloved nieces and nephews.
