Kenneth Wayne Ostermiller, 84, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Ken was born April 5, 1937, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Harold and Emma (Kissler) Ostermiller. He married Shirley Mae (Harmeier) Ostermiller on May 19, 1957.
Ken and Shirley were married for 63 wonderful years and raised two children together. Ken admired Shirley; thinking about her always brought a smile to his face. Ken and Shirley were the definition of true soulmates.
Growing up, Ken assisted his father on the farm, and by doing so he proudly saved his family money. One of his fondest memories was when his father took a pickup truck into the shop for repairs and came home in a 41 Ford Coupe, to his surprise the car was a gift for him! Ken’s proudest career accomplishment was that he retired at the age of 55 years old, after working for Frito Lay for 27 years. After retirement, Ken was able to enjoy all his “loves” in life including, spending time with Shirley and the family, enjoying time in the mountains, camping, fishing, and vacationing in Estes Park. He fell in love with the game of tennis and played in many leagues in Arizona.
Ken is survived by his children, Cheryl (Robert) Manka; and Randy (Dot) Ostermiller; Grandchildren, Mindy (Lucas) Stecyk; Holly (Jared) Hansmann, Robbie (Stephanie) Manka, Jamie Manka; Great-grandchildren, Harper, Hannah, and Hayes Hansmann, Dara Manka, and Bailey Manka; Trevor, and Olivia; and his brothers, Gordon (Judy) Ostermiller, Gary (Mary) Ostermiller, and Terry Ostermiller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and the love of his life, Shirley.
