John Lumb passed away on November 7, 2021 in his sleep. John was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado on June 14th, 1955 to William V. and Lily Lumb. It was in Fort Collins that he was raised to love the outdoors and spent much of his childhood enjoying mountain activities. He graduated from Fort Collins High School, taught ski school at Winter Park, and shortly after graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Computer Science. He then began his career with HP in town which would lead him to great success. More importantly, he met the love of his life, Geraldine Godinez also of Fort Collins.
On June 25th, 1977, John married Geri and the two began building their family in Fort Collins. Together they raised two sons, Garth and Grant Lumb. Occasionally John and Geri left for career opportunities as they followed John’s career to the UK and California, but they always came back home.
As an individual, John was a devoted family man, loving husband, and amazing father. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, hiking, reading, playing pool, and living life to the fullest. He also loved to ski each winter and build many more family memories on the mountains.
He is survived by his two sons Garth W. Lumb and Grant C. Lumb all of Fort Collins, Colorado.
At his request no formal service is planned. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date where his ashes will be spread at Twisty Park in Jackson County, Colorado where he and his family spent many happy years camping.
Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Friends Alliance, 2321 East Mulberry Street, Fort Collins. CO 80524.
