Born in Daegu, South Korea on June 1, 1945, Jay Jay was one of seven children born to Dosaeng and Sunnam Kim. Raised in South Korea, she attended nursing school and had the opportunity to take part in an international nurses exchange program. While working in Chicago, Illinois she met Simon Seung Jai Kim. They wed on Christmas Day, 1970, and settled in Champaign, Illinois.
Jay Jay and Simon raised two wonderful, intelligent children, Sueanne and Jeffrey, of whom Jay Jay was very proud. She was a devoted wife and supportive working mother, who always found time for her family and ensure that there was always a good meal at home. Jay Jay was an eternal optimist who loved to golf and enjoyed cooking and gardening - all the more so in her retirement life in Windsor. She liked to keep busy and never sat still, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with those she loved - her friends and family - by whom she will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
Jay Jay leaves behind her loving husband of more than 53 years, Simon Kim; daughter Sueanne Kim (and husband John K. Kim); and her son, Dr. Jeffrey Kim. She is also survived by her siblings Mr. Hanchol Kim, Ms. Crystal Eunsoo Lee, and Mr. Jung-Geun Kim. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, siblings, Mr. Jung-Gil Kim, Mr. Shin-Gil Kim, and Mr. In-Gil Kim, and by her beloved dog, Duckie, who died in 2021.
Services will be held for Jay Jay at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens on Saturday, December 21st, 2024. An Open House Visitation will begin at 10:30am followed by a Memorial Tribute at 11:30am, after which Jay Jay will be laid to rest.
Along with flowers, memorial contributions are welcome to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at lls.org. Treasured memories of Jay Jay and words of kindness and condolence for her family are welcome at resthavencolorado.com.
