Emily was born on September 28th, 2003 in Aberdeen, SD, daughter of Christy Schuett. She attended O.M. Tiffany Elementary, Holgate Junior High, then on to Colorado Early College in Fort Collins. She was awarded an Associate of Science Degree when she graduated high school in May 2022.
Emily loved animals with a special interest in dogs and cows. Her grandparents owned an angus ranch in South Dakota in which she visited often. Emily was planning to attend Colorado State University to study Wildlife Conservation pursuing her love of all animals. She had a tremendous heart, was thoughtful in everything she pursued and accomplished. Emily was intelligent and responsible, graduating summa cum laude. She had an amazing work ethic and loved her job at Jax. Emily loved fiercely and was loyal and protective to those she loved and who loved her. Her talents and unconditional love reflected in her generosity as she always seemed to know the perfect gift to make you feel special.
Emily was very artistic and crafty. She had a few unfinished projects she was working on. Emily had a keen gift and talent for understanding and recognizing your thoughts and feelings before you even knew them. She had laughing eyes, so blue and beautiful. Her contagious laughter and smile will always be remembered and will bring warmth and comfort to those who remain.
Emily was a fierce goalie in soccer. She played hard with courage and a willingness to sacrifice her body to defend a goal. She was becoming a confident and fierce young woman. She was ready to blossom and be her authentic self. Her family, cousins, and her friends meant everything to Emily. She was a bright light in the world and it will be dimmer without her.
Emily was preceded in death by her grandfather Keith Erickson. Grateful having shared in her life are her Grandma Erickson of Raymond, SD and grandparents Arlys and Gary Schuett of Worthington, MN. She had 4 nieces and 1 nephew: Zander, Ember, Juniper, Eleanor, and Valerie. Emily shared many memories and laughter with her 3 siblings, Alex (Libbi) of Missoula, MT; Erin (Payton) and Teri, both of Colorado and Janae (partner of Christy) who cared for Emily as her own. She had many cousins, aunts, and uncles that she shared memories, laughter, and shenanigans.
