Aaron Anthony Maestas, 37, of Loveland, Colorado passed away Sunday October 3rd due to a short, but hard fought battle with Covid-19. He was born January 1st, 1984 to Shirley Carbajal (Guerrero) and Frank Maestas in Denver, Colorado. He wasn’t the first baby of the New Year, but he was undoubtedly the best.
Aaron was born and raised in Denver, but spent most of his school years in Fort Collins. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 2002 and quickly entered the construction trade. He was proud to point out any building he had a hand in constructing. His greatest takeaways from his career, however, were the life-long friendships he made on the job and the incredible mentors he met along the way.
Then came the day… January 1st, 2014 when he met the love of his life in the alley outside of Tony’s Bar during a New Year’s Eve birthday celebration. The rest is history from there…they wed on September 7th, 2018 and welcomed a son, Finn Matthew on July 5th, 2019. Their honeymoon in Hawaii was a treasured moment for both.
Aaron was an avid sports fan who could talk for hours on any team or game, but especially enjoyed watching the Rockies, Broncos, and Nuggets play. Aaron never missed an opportunity to watch a game or build a friendship over a beer with the guy next to him. He was quick to share his passion for WWE wrestling with anyone who would listen or watch, but his favorite watching/practicing companion by far was Finn.
Aaron is survived by his wife Mary, son Finn, faithful companions Tyson and Ally Mae, mother and step-father Shirley and Manuel Carbajal of Fort Collins, CO, father Frank Maestas of Trinidad, CO, siblings Francisco Maestas, Yvonne Maestas, Jeremy Carbajal, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Aaron was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ralph Guerrero and Celina “Sally” Guerrero, as well as his paternal grandparents Alfonso Maestas and Shirley Marie Maestas, step brother Michael Carbajal and nephew Damien Oriona.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 12th at 11:00 am in the chapel at Timberline Church, 2908 South Timberline Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525 with internment and a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, Aaron’s family would welcome donations to a scholarship fund for Finn. To contribute: Venmo at Rebecca-Leonard-18 or checks made payable to: Rebecca Leonard.
