A Homegoing Celebration will be conducted on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home with the Reverend Alfred Woods presiding. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Tyrone was born in Front Royal on August 10, 1945 a son of Melvina Baltimore and the late Walter Bailey, Sr. Tyrone was the head of the Math Department at Fauquier High School where he taught for 45 years. He graduated from Criser High School where he was a Drum Major. He graduated from Virginia State College in 1968 and obtained his Masters Degree from Shenandoah University in 2004. Tyrone was awarded the Teacher of the Year from the Washington Post in 2002. He was the Senior Class Advisor at Fauquier High School and was a math tutor at RMA for 20 years.
In addition to his mother, Tyrone is survived by his brother, Walter Bailey, Jr. of Jonesboro, GA; his niece, Chloe S. Bailey; his great-niece, Jourdyn E. Bailey; his god-son, Phillip Trey "Ruddy" Johnson; and a host of cousins.
The family would like to thank his special care-givers, Dee DeNeal, Randy DeNeal and Freddy Richburg and also acknowledge the loving care he received from Blue Ridge Hospice and Fauquier Hospital Staff.
Pallbearers will be Randolph DeNeal, Jr., Frederick Richburg, Walter Fletcher, Terry Roy, William Lansdown, Copthorne Fitzhugh, and Bobby Travis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ben McCartney, Bob Jacobs, Paul Reynolds, Major Warner, Roger Sites, Wes Lewis, and Brian Barbour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.
