Sharon ‘Shari’ Sella passed from this life on to her eternal home January 17, 2019. She was the second born to Raya and Jerry Sella on August 10, 1980. Shari and her older sister grew up in Gaithersburg, MD.
She graduated from Ithaca College with a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked as an occupational therapist for fifteen years specializing in Pediatrics.
On October 16, 2011 in Charleston, S.C., Shari married David Devine. Together they had one daughter, Olive.
Shari loved crafting, making candles and succulent flower arrangements. When she had the time she loved to play the piano. Shari was not a big fan of the sand but loved being close to the beach. She enjoyed watching reality TV and it was something she bonded over with many friends. She also enjoyed listening to country music. Shari also enjoyed participating in Jewish traditions to celebrate her cultural background.
Shari was a sincere friend, and a loving wife and mother. She was also a kind person who would go out of her way to help others. Throughout her battle with breast cancer, she advocated for others and managed to raise over $60,000 for breast cancer research. Once Shari made up her mind about something she would immediately set out to achieve her goal. When she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2014, she decided to fight. Fight she did, never complaining along the way no matter how hard it became. One of Shari’s favorite quotes was from the poet Atticus’s book, Love Her Wild:
“She found herself over a long and treacherous road and the more treacherous the road became, the more of herself she found.”
She is survived by Raya and Jerry Sella of McKinney, TX; David Devine of Prosper, TX; Olivia ‘Olive’ Devine of Prosper, TX; and Lauren Sella and Matthew Pincus of New York, NY.
Shari Sella was loved while she was with us here on earth and we will continue to love her through time and all eternity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
