Michael Alan Letourneau, age 58, of McKinney, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022. Michael was born in Gardner, KS on August 8, 1964 to his parents Martha (Derusseau) and David Letourneau.
Mike attended Newman Smith High School, in Carrollton, Texas and graduated in 1982 from Olathe North High School, Olathe, Kansas. After graduation, Mike attended Kansas University and became a devout KU basketball fan. Mike’s love of golf started when he played on the Olathe North High School Golf Team and the Johnson County Community College Golf team. Mike has also been a life-long fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and had a passion for rock music and guitars.
Mike’s mother fondly remembers “Chris and I drove a U-Haul following Mike when he moved back to Texas. We unloaded the U-Haul and were getting ready to return to Olathe. Mike came over, gave us a kiss and a hug. As he turned to go to his car, he turned around and said, "Don't you dare cry." I didn't. From then on, whenever we said good-bye, it was always all right -- "Love you" and go on. Sadly, I'm not sure I can do it this time.
Mike made me aware of exceptional guitarists and their music. It gave me a true appreciation of the music and I loved his sharing that with me. Here I am, an 84-year old woman who loves Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons and (yes)-even Eddie Van Halen. Going forward, I think the music will bring me sadness and happy memories, too.”
Jeannie, the love of Mike’s life, shares it is true you will know you met your soulmate immediately. Mike and I were set up through friends. I thought I would never be married or have kids. Then, I literally met my knight-in-shining armor. Michael was a man of true character, the love of family, a hard worker, driven, and the best sense of humor. We immediately clicked on our first date and for 29 years; our love for each other only grew stronger. His gift as a dedicated husband and father and the memories we have will be with us forever.
Mike is survived by his wife Jeannie (Warfel) Letourneau; sons, Justin and Sean; Parents, Martha and David Letourneau; sister, Christine Letourneau; brother, Steve Letourneau; sister-in-law, Pam Letourneau; niece, Danielle Letourneau; nephews, Alex Letourneau and Dominic Letourneau. Mike will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
A celebration of life memorial service for Michael will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Stonebriar Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033.
