Lawrence “Larry” Ford Butler, age 82 of Frisco, TX passed away on October 17, 2024. He was born in Tyler, Texas on February 3, 1942, to Jack Butler and Mary Louise (Ford) Butler of Ft. Worth. He led a life marked by dedication to his family, a passion for football, and traveling with family.
Larry graduated from Polytechnic High School in Ft. Worth and went on to attend UT Austin from 1960 to 1962, and then received a bachelor’s in business from TCU in 1965. He had a career in Human Resource Management and Sales with Sears Logistics, Mannatech and Careington. Larry was a member of The Chi Phi Fraternity at UT Austin, the TCU Alumni Association and The Butler Society.
A Texas native, Larry spent time growing up in Ft. Worth and then began working in Kansas after college where he married and dedicated his life to Kathleen B. Schraeder on July 10, 1971. Together they relocated to Chicago to adopt and raise their daughter, Lauren, and became fully engaged in an active family life of activities and travel. After relocating from Chicago to Wisconsin and then Indiana, he returned to Texas to live out the rest of his life.
Larry spent the free time he had sharing moments with family and friends, watching football games and cheering on his beloved TCU Horned Frogs. He enjoyed relaxing with family playing mini golf, bowling and billiards. He loved spending time outdoors in the fresh air and could often be found planting vegetables in his garden and enjoying the peaceful backyard. Larry enjoyed traveling and fishing, which was a lifelong pass time for him. With family he traveled to places like Cabo San Lucas, Hawaii, Jamaica and many places across the United States.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kathleen Butler, their daughter, Lauren (Tony) Horn of Tyler, his sister, Helen (David) Hays of Burleson and three grandchildren, Andrew, Dean and Jameson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Butler and mother Mary Louise Butler.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 16, 2024 at 1pm at Stonebriar Funeral Home, Frisco, TX.
