John Walter Trexler was born to Virginia Gibson Trexler and Bernard Rudolf Trexler on June 19, 1937. He was their second child. With a strong interest in engineering, even as a small child,he loved to take things apart to figure out how they worked. John grew up in Charlotte, NC where he loved to ride with his Dad on the Big Riggs. During his teenage years at Arthur Murray, he taught dance lessons.
John graduated from Charlotte Central High School and he attended Charlotte College and University of NC. After college, he and his older brother Buddy were in the military at the same time. John was a civil engineer and Project Manager for 30 years where he handled international construction projects in China, Russia, and the Middle East. He was a Mason and he was also part of the Rotary Club.
John will be remembered as a loving, patriotic, funny, and smart man. He was always quick with a smile and a joke. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, golf, playing drums, and boating. John’s favorite place to be was on a boat with his loving wife, Anne or playing with his grandson, Nicholas. His nicknames were pop-pop, Jay, and Jay-Bird
He met the love of his life, Anne, on a blind date. It was love at first sight for the two and they were together constantly from then on. Later, they were married in Charlotte, NC. They shared a mutual love for ballroom dancing and they enjoyed many years of dance competitions together. They have been married for 57 years and they have one daughter, Nicole, and one grandson, Nicholas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Trexler, Sr; Virginia Trexler;
Survived by his wife, Anne; daughter, Nicole Williams; son-in-law, John Williams; grandson, Nicholas Williams; brother, Bernard Trexler, Jr; sister, Brenda McGowan; brother-in-law, Dennis McGowan.
