On May 26, 2023 Jeanne Dugan passed from this life to her eternal home. She was born on April 25, 1928 in Omaha, NE, to Charles and Irma Petersen. She was the 5th of 6 children sharing her childhood with her siblings Fred, Tootie, Bill, Rosie, & Pete.
Jeanne graduated from St Cecilia’s Cathedral High School in Omaha, NE in 1946. Jeanne married Jim Dugan in 1952 in Omaha, NE. To this union they had 6 children, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Throughout her early life she worked at Mutual of Omaha and Creighton University. They moved to O’Neill, NE in 1966 where they owned Dugan’s Shamrock Bar. After selling the bar, she worked at various grocery stores as their bookkeeper. She retired in 2005. In 2010, Jeanne and Jim moved to Prosper, TX.
Jeanne was an active member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill, NE and St Gabriel’s Catholic Church in McKinney, TX. She was a member of St Patrick’s Altar Society.
She will be forever remembered as a loving mother with a strong Catholic faith, she was a hard-working and determined lady with a savvy business acumen. In her younger years, she enjoyed her ladies card club, church activities and her weekly bowling team. In retirement, she could be found making new friends, playing games, volunteering and attending daily mass at St Gabriel’s. Jeanne had a meticulous sense of fashion and frequently wore bright, bold colors with coordinating accessories!
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, Charles and Irma; all of her siblings; her son Daniel, daughter Theresa Dusatko; her grandchild, Michael; and great grandson, Carter Fritton.
Jeanne’s legacy will live on thru her remaining children, Diane Dugan Fritton and Ted of Omaha, NE; Tim Dugan & Kathy of Huntsville, TX; Tom Dugan and Carrie of Spring, TX; and Denise Dugan Burkey and Mike of Aubrey, TX; her nine grandchildren, Meghan, Casey, Kelly, Julie, Emily, Joseph, Kelsey, Kimberly and Patrick; her 10 great-grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on July 3, 2023 at St Columbkille Catholic Church in Papillion, NE with burial in the Omaha National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
