James Robert Revely Jr. was born on, August 12, 1944, in a small town in Virginia. He was the first-born son of James and Mary Revely Sr., a loving and hardworking couple who instilled strong values in their children. Growing up, James was a regular attendee at the Second Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Gladstone, Va., where he found solace and guidance in his faith. He was baptized at a young age and learned the teachings of the Lord, which shaped his character and influenced his decisions throughout his life. He attended Nelson Memorial High School in 1962, James embarked on a journey into the workforce. He held various jobs, but his true passion and talent lay in mechanics. Known for his ability to work wonders on any type of vehicle, James eventually found his calling at CSX Transportation, where he dedicated many years of service. In addition to his career, James had a love for sports, particularly softball. He excelled as a catcher and was known for his skill and dedication on the field. Off the field, he found joy in spending time with his family, especially his beloved Jane Alice Gillispie Revely (Hollins), with whom he shared a deep and lasting love. Together, in their union they raised five children, creating a loving and supportive home filled with laughter and memories. James passed down his passion for cars to his children, instilling in them a strong work ethic and a love for hands-on activities. On May 28, 2024, James lost his brave battle with bladder cancer, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his own home. Although he may have left this world, his legacy lives on through his six children, who carry on his values of hard work, dedication, and love for family. James Robert Revely Jr. will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and friend, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was predeceased by his parents James and Mary Revely (Glover), his sister Elizbeth (Meredith) Austin, and his brothers Dan (Peggy) Revely and, Wayne (Caroline) Revely. He is also survived by his siblings, Brothers Claude (Alseter), Roy (Linda), Ben (Tracey), Ricky (Lawanda), Dale (Sherman), and Connie (Greg) Mosley. He leaves to cherish his memory with his three daughters and three sons, Loretta Revely (Plano, TX), James (Frisco, TX), Robert (Stacy) (Allen, TX), Jimmy (Jackie) (Little Elm, TX), Stella (Quincy) (Little Elm, TX) and Jennifer Bailey (Warren) Brown (Amherst, VA). He is leaving behind numerous grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
A celebration of life memorial service for James will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Stonebriar Funeral Home, 10375 Preston Rd., Frisco, Texas 75034.
