William Junior Walls was born in a town called Scotland, Arkansas on June 5, 1929 to Huse and Mary Walls. Dad had two brothers; Billy and Donnie and a sister, Mary Alice. Dad went by several names, family called him “Junior”, his friends called him “Bill”, and everyone else called him William. Dad stood 6 foot and 3 inches and weighed 220 lbs. Dad joined the Army Air force on January 10, 1947. He lied about his age to join the Army Air Force early. He told the recruiting officer his birthday was January 3, 1929. Being 6’3”, who would have questioned it. He was assigned to Military Police (MP). He was stationed at Edwards’ Air Force Base. He worked up to being a Sergeant when he was discharged in December 1949. Soon after he met the love of his life, Lou Alice Freed and they were married August 25, 1951. Soon after, two more were added to the family, Ron and Debbie. Then in 1960 he moved family to Fresno, California to be with some family members and better work opportunities. Lou found work as a waitress and she worked 20 years with the IRS before retiring. Bill found work as a truck driver for Santa Fe and United Groceries. In his spare time he liked to garden and do wood work. In 1991 and 1994 two grandchildren, Sarah and Sean were born to Brian and Debbie and became their pride and joy. Junior and Lou traveled and watched the grandchildren during their retirement. They made several trips back east to visit family. In 2006 Lou passed away. They were married for 55 years. Dad put more time into gardening, maintaining his home. His last year was in a senior assistance living community. There he met new friends and enjoyed good food. He always looked forward to getting his desert after his evening meals. San Francisco Giants were his favorite baseball team and watched them often. Dad enjoyed celebrating his 90th birthday with his family and friends at a dinner party. First of September he became ill and passed away the day before his wife Lou’s 89th birthday on September 6th. We say he was ready to see his loving wife Lou and celebrate her birthday with her.
"Goodbye dad, we Love you and we will miss you." Ronnie, Debbie, Brian, Sarah, Sean
