years as a resident of Cayucos California. Bill attended Sunshine School and United Cerebral
Palsy day care for most of his life. Bill was a watercolor artist and many of his paintings were
sold through the UCP daycare program.
Bill also became a clay artist fashioning unique necklaces, wind chimes, and wall plaques from
clay which his Mother fired for him in his kiln as well as creations he made in art classes at U C
P. Day Care Center.
Bill was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a devoted fan of the
Fresno Grizzlies, San Francisco Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Oakland Raiders. He loved all
sports and was particularly fond of attending Grizzlies games. Bill was also a dedicated and
patient fisherman. His favorite fishing spots were the Cayucos Pier and a small lake at Cedar
Valley.
Bill was preceded in death by his Father, William L. Gilfillan, His Mother, Lenore Ione "Becky"
Gilfillan, and his sister, Linda McAlexander. Bill is survived by his Brother-in-law, Chuck
McAlexander and wife Genie; Nephews Jason and Ian McAlexander and wife Melissa; Niece
Molly L M Smith and husband Jeff; Great Nephews Liam McAlexander and Trey Smith; and
Great Nieces Imogen McAlexander and Lilyann Smith.
Bill was a "good guy" in every sense of the word. He never let his physical limitations reduce
his joy of life. He seldom complained, was quick to smile, and thanked those who helped him
often. He will be missed by his family as well as his extended families at Valley Care
Residential Cedar House and day care facility.
A Graveside and Memorial Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 South Cornelia
Ave. Fresno Ca. 93706 on Saturday August 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
