Virginia Boyajian, age 95, peacefully went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2014 joining her beloved husband of 59 years, Marty Guy Boyajian.
Virginia was born in Fowler, California to Adam and Helen Boyajian on January 9, 1919. She was the youngest of five children. She attended Wolters Elementary School, Clovis High School, and graduated from Fresno Tech.
Virginia was admired by her family for her love of life, her vibrant personality, and her loyalty to family and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marty; and her siblings, Araxie, Vera, Ernest and Edward.
Although Virginia did not have children of her own, she is survived by many nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved dearly and insisted they all be acknowledged. Her nephews and nieces, Ret. Marine Col. Carl Mahakian and wife Patricia, Richard Asadoorian and wife Barbara Cowan, Jerry Boyajian, Timothy Boyajian, Ginger Morse and husband Wade, Dianne Snider, Elizabeth Thompson, Susan Pugh and husband Jim, Jeri Russell and husband Charlie, Tom Dyer and wife Dorian; great-nephews and nieces, Lee Fields, George Fields and wife Debby, Laura Blaney, Mark Asadoorian and wife Silva, Tracy Doran, Erica Kopensky and husband Kristopher, Sharie Schmaltz and husband Michael, Nora Encinas and husband Adrian Prieto, Goldie Gardner and husband David, Mark Thompson, Jolene Tjaden and husband Jared, Adam Snider, Katie Snider, Mark Pugh, Steve Halstead and wife Nora, Danielle DeAlba and husband Abraham; great-great nephews and nieces, Wendy Gumb and husband Nathan, Matthew Fields and wife Juanita Temple, Kaitlyn Kopensky, Ava Schmaltz, Madeline Asadoorian, Juliette Asadoorian, Madeline Tjaden, Khloe Snider, Cruz Gardner, Shyanne Halstead, Sean Halstead, Nathaniel Prieto, Matthew Prieto, and Samantha DeAlba; and great-great-great-nephew, Devin Gumb who she so fondly referred to as "My Little General". Virginia is also survived by her Godchildren, Robert Harootunian, Jr., Beverly Fisher; and many life-long friends.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, on Friday, May 9, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Ararat Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church, 3673 North First Street, Fresno, CA 93726.
