Tim was born on February 18, 1940 in Fresno, CA to his parents Simon Bearce Montgomery and Mary Clines Montgomery in the old St. Agnes hospital on Fruit Avenue. Tim went to elementary school at St. Therese and graduated from his beloved San Joaquin Memorial High School in 1958. He attended Fresno State University for a time where he played football at the position of quarterback. After this period Tim proudly served in the Army for two years as a radio communications corporal. His working life began at Pacific Mutual selling insurance and ended at National Gypsum Company selling building materials. His friendly and loquacious nature made him skilled at his work, often becoming a million-dollar producer each year. Many buildings and apartments across the Valley from the mid-1970s until the late 1990s have his product in them. Tim was a true Central Valley guy who throughout his career in sales travelled to virtually every part of his hometown and to all the surrounding communities in the San Joaquin Valley.
He enjoyed going to the gym daily and visiting with his gym friends, and he loved riding in his boat with his grandchildren at Bass Lake. Tim was an expert hunter, fisherman and golfer. His swing was a thing of beauty to be envied. Tim’s greatest gift was his friendly demeanor. This quality afforded him the ability to befriend strangers and see the good in most people. If there was laughter and silliness, no doubt Tim was at the center of it.
Tim is survived by his wife Mary Jane, son Sean and wife Poh, son Jason and wife Julie and four grandchildren Jason, Jr., Caroline, Danny and Sadie. He is also survived by one sister Diane. Tim was preceded in death by his parents Simon Bearce and Mary and brothers Dan and Mike Montgomery. Also preceding him were his loving Brittany Spaniels Gordy and Reggie. The family would like to thank the staff at Sommerford Place for their loving and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday May 10, 2017 from 4:00-7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Thursday May 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Tim’s family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to either San Joaquin Memorial High School or an Alzheimer’s research organization in Tim’s name.
