Shane M. Looney was born on June 7th, 1972 in Los Angeles California. He died on April 3rd, 2019 in his home in Fresno California. He was 46 years old.
Shane was raised in Ontario California by his parents Carol and Alan looney. He was a strong believer in his catholic faith and was an altar server from age 11 through 17 at St Madeleine church in Pomona. He attended grade school in La Puente and Ontario and played baseball for the Red Sox, where he was chosen to represent his league at Dodger stadium! He studied at Ontario high until 12th grade when he moved to Texas at the age of 19. In his mid twenties he stayed in Louisiana with some friends for a short time, before moving back in with his parents.
In 1994 he met Jennie Ariaz and her 2 kids Zachary and veronica Ariaz A couple years down the road in May of 1997 they had his first-born Rosalyn Ariaz looney. On valentine’s day of 1998 they got married and soon after bought their first home. A short time later in October of 2002 he adopted Zachary and veronica finalizing the looneys and creating the family he’d take care of for the rest of his life!
In 2005 Shane and his family moved to Fresno California to start the next journey in his life which included a new home in 2010, 4 dogs and many friends. With a new town came new jobs and opportunity, he worked in a warehouse and a flour mill before returning to his passion in commercial driving. In 2013 he was hired to drive a city bus for the Fresno FAX in what would be his final and favorite occupation. Some of Shane’s favorite past times included Barbequing for the family during a football game and having a couple cold ones. If he had your phone number then you probably talked to him a couple times, he loved being on the phone with his friends. He enjoyed hanging out with his dogs on the couch watching a good movie or being out in the yard having a bon fire. Through all the years Shane never lost his faith in the Church. He often dedicated his time volunteering as a mentor in youth catechism classes. He sponsored young adults in their confirmation as well as his brother, sister, and nephew in their baptism.
Shane Looney is survived by his wife Jennie, three kids – Zachary, Veronica, and Rosalyn, mother and father – Carol and Alan, two brothers – Alan and Sheldon, two sisters – Shannon and Sarah, one daughter in law – Lizeth, one son in law – Thomas, two grandchildren – Sodapop, and Sofia, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers and Sisters in law, and countless nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his sister Trinity and his maternal and paternal grandparents
Visitation service will be held on April 18th at 4:00pm-7:00pm in the Tinkler Funeral Chapel on 475 North Broadway Fresno, Ca 93701.
Funeral Service will be held on April 19th at 9:30am-11:00am in the Our Lady of Victory Church on 2838 N West Ave Fresno, Ca 93705.
