Sara Martha Flores passed away peacefully at her home on March 3, 2023, at the age of 97. Sara was born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico, the second of ten children born to Alfonso and Martha (Roybal) Pacheco. Her family moved several times, first to Montana, then to Wyoming before the family settled in Fresno, California. Sara arrived in Fresno in time to attend and graduate from Edison High School in 1945. Sara married Trinidad C. Flores in 1950 in Fresno, California. Sara and Trinidad (Tommy) were married for 51 years before his passing in 2001. Sara is survived by her son, Ronald Flores, of Fresno, California, daughters, Martha Flores Pearce, of Fort Myers, Florida; Cyndy Taylor (Husband, Richard Taylor), of Winchester, California; and Linda Sanford, of Framingham, Massachusetts, along with several grandchildren. Sara is also survived by her sisters Cora Cesena, Frances Villegas, Lily Lovitt (Husband Tim Lovitt), sister-in-law Mary Pacheco, bother-in-laws Salvador Garcia, Joseph (Lupe) Garcia and many nieces and nephews.
Sara was a great support and educator to her children. As a result, all her children attended college. Sara was very talented and creative, and loved to sew. She sewed many of her children’s outfits for school, and also made many beautiful quilted blankets which are still being used today. Sara also loved to knit, crochet, cook and bake.
Sara was an avid reader and loved working on her ‘Word Search’ puzzle books but her favorite pastime and entertainment was playing the slot machines at the Casinos.
Sara loved to travel with her children and grandchildren. Sara and her late husband, Trinidad, traveled to Hawaii, Boston, Florida, Los Angeles (Disneyland), San Francisco, and Lake Tahoe, in addition to many other beautiful places.
Sara is proceeded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Martha Pacheco, husband, Trinidad C. (Tommy) Flores, brothers, Alfonso Pacheco, Frank Pacheco, Albert Pacheco, Jerry Pacheco, Charles Pacheco, sister, Della Cervantes and sister-in-law, Bertha Cruz Tripp.
A Catholic mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua, 5770 N. Maroa Ave., Fresno on March 23rd at 10:00 a.m. with a burial to follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. No Reception will be held.
Sara was a wonderful loving Mother and Grandmother who brought great warmth and joy to her family and anyone who met her. Sara will be greatly missed and will always be in our hearts and memories.
