It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Erwin Jones, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother, doting grandfather, and proud great-grandfather. Ronnie passed away on December 28, 2024, holding on with the same tenacity and determination that defined his life, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on November 24, 1940 in San Fernando California. He was the firstborn child of Clifford and Juanita Jones. As the eldest of six siblings, Ronnie embraced his role as a protective figure to his brothers and sisters, Gary Jones, Gregory Jones, Kathee Dendurent, Carrie Badgett, Rodger Jones and Rodney Jones.
Ronnie served his country honorably as an Army Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne infantry, a role that instilled in him a profound sense of dedication, discipline, and service.
Ronnie had an amazing sense of humor and a knack for brightening every room he entered. He was always making people laugh with his quick-witted one-liners and funny sayings. Whether he was “nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs” or “doing worse than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest,” his words left everyone grinning. His humor was a gift that connected him to friends and strangers alike, making him unforgettable to all who crossed his path.
Family was the cornerstone of Ronnie’s life. His wife, Sherry, was his rock and best friend for 55 years. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, warmth, and unforgettable memories. Ronnie was a proud father to Michele Azevedo, Vicki Fertig, Scott Jones, Michael Jones, Jennifer Jones, Steven Jones, Shiloh Olivares and Chantel Dickson. A devoted grandfather to twenty grandchildren, and a joyful great-grandfather to eighteen great-grandchildren. Although he was not always near some of his children and grandchildren, he held each of them close to his heart and loved them all dearly. His family was his greatest pride and joy.
An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Ronnie found freedom and peace on the open road. He had a deep connection to nature, often spending time exploring the great outdoors, camping, hiking, boating, or simply enjoying the serenity of the natural world. His love for animals was evident to all who knew him, and he was a loyal friend to many four-legged companions over the years.
Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife Sherry, his children, Michele, Vicki, Scott, Michael, Jennifer, Steven, Shiloh and Chantel, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Gary, Kathee, Carrie, Rodger and Rodney. He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Nita Jones, his beloved brother Gregory (it just ain’t fair) and his precious grandson Ethan.

If you would like to send flowers, they may be sent to Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home at 836 E. Nees Ave Fresno, CA 93720.
