Richard was born on March 3, 1937 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to his parents Harold Frank Johnson and Alta Irma Johnson. At the age of 16 he met his soulmate and eternal love, Sue Waldrup and they were married on September 29, 1957. They would have been married 67 years this September and thoroughly enjoyed being together. His wish had been to live one day longer than Sue so that he could take care of her until her passing. As a close friend described, they were like peanut butter and jelly, you just could not have one without the other.
Richard and Sue had four children, their daughter Kim (Brian) and sons Chris, Steve, and Doug. Doug passed away at 16 hours old. Richard has four grandchildren, Morgan (Max), Spencer, Lucas, and Tiffani, and a great grandson, Solomon Dae Ulaner. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Elnore and Marjorie. He is survived by his wife Sue, his children, grandchildren, sister Virginia Freschi and many nieces and nephews.
Richard had a long and successful career as a Staff Mechanical Engineer designing medical equipment. He attended Oklahoma State University and completed his engineering coursework at University of Tulsa.
