Raymond Edward Schaad passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in Fresno, CA at the age of 88. Raymond was born on June 18, 1925 in Willows, CA to the late William Frederick and Marie Schaad and grew up in Williams, CA. Ray served a tour of duty in Europe during WWII and met his wife Rosemary at a USO dance in New Orleans, LA. They married and moved to Davis, CA, where Raymond went to the University of Davis earning a BA in Agricultural Science. They have lived in Visalia, Alturas, Chico, Placentia, Stockton, King City, and Delano before moving to Fresno, where he resided for 33 years. Ray retired from Bank of America after 35 years. He was an avid photographer and wood worker, always creating works of art for family and friends, craft fairs, and toy donations. He was a member of the San Joaquin Fine Woodworkers Association, Masons, Elks, and Lion’s Club over the years. He was an active member of St. Columba Church. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years. He is survived by their three daughters and husbands, Linda Laymon, Patricia Simms, and Suzanne Running; 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at St. Columba Church, 5073 N. Palm Ave., Fresno, CA 93704 on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Columba Church or the charity of your choice.
