Mom was born on April 14,1926, in Florence, Kansas, to Alejandro and Lucia Palacioz. She met the love of her life, Simon Martinez, in 1940 and they married on May 17, 1945. Together they had six children, five girls and one boy. They moved to California from Kansas in 1949.
Mom enjoyed sewing, reading, word search puzzles, board games and singing with dad. Mom was a hard worker. She picked cotton and grapes, took in ironing, did yard duty at St. Therese School, worked at American Safety making seatbelts, an electronic factory making electric boards, was a Teachers Aide at Teague Elementary, and a transcriber at the Diagnostic School for Neurologically Handicapped Children. Mom was actively involved at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was a choir member, served as Eucharistic Minister, and helped with fundraisers and the parish carnival.
Mom's Catholic faith was very strong, and she was especially devoted to Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alejandro and Lucia Palacioz, eight brothers and sisters, her husband, Simon Martinez, her daughters Linda Hernandez and Patty Martinez, her grandson, Robert Renteria, and her beloved dog, Nikki.
She is cherished by her daughters, Cynthia Renteria, Debbie Estrada and her husband, Tony, Terre Esquivel and her husband, John, and her son, Todd Martinez and his wife, Cheryl. She is also cherished by eight grandchildren, Lisa Fialho and her husband, Chris, Gino Hernandez and his girlfriend, Claudia, Kimberly Del Giorgio and her husband, Joe, Anthony Estrada and his wife, Michelle, John Esquivel and his partner, Alex, Alex Esquivel and his girlfriend, Katherine, Matthew Martinez and his girlfriend, Jenn, and Michael Martinez; her great-granddaughters, Jessica Knowles, Amanda Fialho, Mia Fialho and her boyfriend, Miguel, and great-great-granddaughter, Chloe Wuench; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in mom's name.
