This condolence message is very overdue, but I was thinking about Peter tonight five years after his passing and I need to share my gratitude for him.
 
I met Peter when I started to work with the Hmong community after moving back to Fresno in 2003. Peter and other community leaders started a program called Hmong Voices, and I had the pleasure of working with him as the youth interviewed the elders and produced “digital stories” telling their stories…the Secret War, the escape from Laos, their triumphs starting anew in the US.

Peter helped guide us to produce great short documentaries that were premiered to the community and I hope are still remembered today. Along the way I realized how true his intentions were, and asked him to be a Board Member for my non-profit, and he went on to be President of the Board and help guide our 501c3.

I miss Peter 5 years after his passing and I’m sure I’ll be thinking about him 25 years from now…when you get to call one of the greats your friend, his impact does not fade easily.

I am so sorry to read this. I met Peter briefly when his sister Mee was involved in an industrial accident at Seattle  City Light. Beautiful man and beautiful family.  I was researching to find Peter in hopes of reconnecting with Mee to share with her some quilts I have made of her Pan'dau embroidery.  Now it seems an impossible task that Peter is gone. Missing  you, your smile, your voice, your sense of humour, your charm and the way you making me laughed.
Many people told me that eventually I will get over and move on with life but here I am still grief hard and heavy on you. I wish I could just rewind back to the first day I met you.  Peter.  It is difficult to believe that you have left this earth and your body, having just spoken and communicated with you so many times last month, in May, regarding our mutual efforts to organize, once again, the Lao Hmong veterans' national recognition ceremonies honoring Lao and Hmong veterans and their families in Arlington National Cemetery, the Vietnam War Memorial and U.S. Congress on May 14-15.  Thank you for being with us over the years and your important leadership efforts.  Our thoughts, love and prayers are with you and your son and daughter Sarah,  Thank you for helping us in Washington, D.C. and helping the Southeast Asian refugees and community over the years.

We know you and your spirit are still with us to help us, and we are sad that you have left us to return home to the Eternal One.

Very sad, huge loss to our community and his family. Peter was a quiet but dynamic leader, wise, highly respected, and a mentor to young and old. Sincere condolences to the family. 

My condolences  and sympathies  to the Vang family,  Peter  an awesome human being,  person and leader. I truly will miss you  your kind heart and understanding mind that thelord  can  only give you, Rest In Peace my fellow brother!

Peter was a wonderful man. He gave freely of his time as we worked together with community leaders to make Fresno Adult School a place of service to our community.  He presence in our community will be missed. He will forever be remembered for his quiet voice, thoughtful contributions and kindness to all he met.  Thank you Peter for your guidance throughout the years and for your friendship. 

Peter was a wonderful man who gave of his time and talents to help Fresno Unified better understand the Hmong culture and thereby better serve Hmong students.  Personally, I appreciated his advice, humor, and support in difficult situations.  

     Peter, an individual whose life was committed to doing for others.   Honor, decency, integrity, and decency were his apparel, and always with a slight smile, quiet laughter, and usually always joy.  I came to know my friend through his work and contributions with the California Health Collaborative and we all share in this collective loss.

     Heaven is made better by his presence and I know he is looking over us all.

Peter will be missed.  He was a great County employee and a great family man.  He will be missed by the community. 

The short little time Peter has spent with us was of tremendous value. He has taught us why it matters to speak, how things should be done, and what there is to do. Peter spent his life advocating and fighting for what is most important to him – the equality and equity of his people. Peter will be known as a leader, who always put his community first.
In a meeting, he listens closely, evaluates carefully, and is always last to speak. Regardless of how negative the situation becomes; He stands unbiased and always look for the most optimal solution. 
Today, it is only his soul that has left, but his memories and legacy will stay with us. He will be miss dearly and the community will never be the same without him.

Peter left a legacy of kindness and service.  A recognized leader in the central valley Hmong community and beyond, Peter commanded respect from all who had the opportunity to encounter him.  I had the opportunity to work with him on several projects concerning Hmong community members access to health care over the years.  His wisdom, patience and wit always made working with him rewarding.  He will be greatly missed.  Rest in peace Peter.

Peter was a great mentor to us, personally and professionally.  He was our son’s godfather and has always support his growth with kind words, provided hope and strength. We will truly miss Peter. The Hmong community has lost a strong leader. 

Peter and I became friends while working for the County of Fresno Department of Social Services. We often took walks during breaks to get out, share stories, and learn from each other. He taught me about his culture, and always included me in his family’s celebrations and other events. We met for lunch just days before he passed. The thing I respected most about Peter was how much he loved his family. He wanted so badly to be in Japan for his son’s wedding. I will always remember Peter as a caring, considerate friend and a passionate advocate for new Americans. 

I will miss you so much Peter. You were like a father and uncle. In my eyes you are a super hero and you have left big prints on this world. You are kind, and wise. Heaven gained another angel. I want you to know that you touched many lives including mine.
