Pearl A. Scott was born in Whiting, Indiana, on December 15, 2018 to Arleigh N. Dewhirst and Lilly Miller Dewhirst. The family moved to Fresno six months later. She suffered a stroke and was transferred to Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City, CA where she passed away two days later on March 3, 2018.
She attended Jackson Elementary School and graduated from Roosevelt High School. After graduation, she worked for Pacific Bell Telephone Company and married Warren B. Scott on June 25, 1938. Later, she returned to work in retail sales in the women's wear at Montgomery Ward Department Store.
She was a member of the Parlor Lecture Club and an avid card player; she loved nothing more than to play bridge or canasta with friends and various other card games with her family and children. She was still playing cards up until the time of her passing. Summer vacations in Santa Cruz were a memorable part of her life while her children were growing up. She loved to cook. Family gatherings were always enjoyable events as we savored the fruits of her kitchen labors.
Pearl is survived by her son, Kenneth W. Scott and his wife Judy; daughter Penny Powell and daughter-in-law Patricia Scott; grandchildren Denelle Urquhart and her husband Scott; Marty Scott; Leslie Tracy and her husband Jason; Kristie Fok and her husband Derek; Scott Powell; Shelley Nelson and her husband Richard and Mike Scott; great grandchildren; Kyle and Carson Urquhart; Lauren and Scott Tracy; Brandon Adamson and Midori Fok; Brayden, Kegan and Tyler Power; Kevin and Lance Nelson and Giana Scott.
