Following graduation, Bill and Paula took turns working and going to college, in order to "put each other through school". After graduating from both Fresno City and Fresno State colleges, Paula was immediately able to start teaching, a job that she loved.
Bill and Paula began their married life in Fresno after deciding to elope to Nevada in 1965, but following Bill's graduation, his work in construction had them moving to other states. They lived for many years in Pennsylvania, where Paula continued her work as a full-time teacher until they adopted their 2 children in 1977 and 1978. Bill's work also had them living in Florida, Montana, Southern California, and Maryland. She returned to teaching after her own kids started school.
Paula loved to swim, and while in high school, she even taught younger kids to swim. Unfortunately, around this time, she contracted a lengthy case of pneumonia that left her with a lifetime of asthma. While living in Maryland, Paula suffered a near fatal asthma attack. After a lengthy recovery, and with the love and support of her family and friends, Paula was able to continue traveling with Bill and living in Shanghai and Romania where he was working.
Their final stop was the state of Washington. After a few years living and working in the Tri-Cities area, Bill became ill and passed away in 2019. Paula remained in the area until her passing on November 2, 2023.
Paula is survived by her sister Olga Sarouhan, daughter Andrea Lung, son Derek Lung, granddaughters Cheyanne Rollins and Amaya Gales, great grandson Legend, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery will be held Friday, November 17th, 2023 at 10:00am.
Serving as pallbearers are Derek Lung, Brian Sarouhan, Todd Sarouhan and Erica Sarouhan.
