He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joleen, his parents, Nick and Annie Barbano DeFendis, his brother, Louie and his sister, Angie Plunkett.
He is survived by his wife, Amy, his son, Ronald of Corcoran, a loving daughter/granddaughter, Marissa Swetnam of Fresno and many nieces and nephews.
He was raised in the Easton area where he attended local schools. After graduating from Washington Union High School, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He served as a gunner on both the B17 and the B29. The war ended before he saw action. Leonard’s hobbies included golf, cooking, Fresno State Sports and his vegetable garden.
In November 1957, he married Amy Swetnam of Caruthers. In the spring of 2002, 3 ½ year old, Marissa Swetnam joined the family with Leonard, Amy and Ron.
Visitation will be at Stephens & Bean Funeral Chapel, 202 N Teilman Ave, Fresno from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022. A graveside service will be held at Washington Colony Cemetery in Easton on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with reception following at Easton Presbyterian Church.
