Kelly E. Weaver passed away on February 5, 2022, and is survived by the love of her life Tom Bunker. She is also survived by her parents Richard & Nancy Weaver, her sister Kim Calaway (David), her brother Ryan Weaver (Dewi), nieces Caylie Clarke, Cierra Shea and Ruby Weaver, and nephews Connor Calaway and Cannon Calaway.
Kelly received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 1997 from the College of Veterinary Medicine of Kansas State University and her Bachelor of Science from Cal Poly SLO. She was truly a child prodigy, finishing her high school years early with honors and several scholarships.
Kelly was also a gifted equestrian, showing her favorite mare “Ribbons N’ Lace,” receiving awards and winning championships throughout the Western U.S.
She moved to Fresno and, in 1999, she co-founded the Fresno Pet Emergency & Referral Center and served as Hospital Director until retiring in 2016.
Over the years, Kelly saved countless numbers of cherished family pets through her expertise and her absolute and caring dedication to providing state-of-the-art veterinary care. She was also the “go to” professional for treatment of a range of creatures – domestic, exotic and farm animals
An active member of the Fresno community, many organizations benefitted from her dedication and energy. Most notably, Kelly served as veterinary care giver for Fresno State’s beloved mascots, Victor and Oscar. She was also a strong supporter of the Fresno LGBTQ community attending and supporting their events, including Fresno pride week.
Kelly touched many lives both professionally and personally. She loved fiercely, cared deeply, gave generously, and had a gentle sense of humor that will be missed by all.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m., at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, 1880 Gettysburg Ave, Clovis, CA, 93611.
All attending are encouraged to wear something purple, Kelly’s favorite color.
