She was preceded in her death by her loving husband of 59 years, Joseph Gutilla Sr., parents Daniel and Rose Giordano, and brother David Giordano.
She was a loving and devoted wife, a nurturing and caring mother, a cherished “Nana” to her grandchildren, “Gigi” to her great-grandchildren, beloved cousin and aunt, and a loyal and compassionate friend to many.
Her love and passion was cooking for her family, especially holidays and birthdays. She was renowned for her famous homemade sauce, meatballs, pizza, and cannolis that she prepared for family Italian dinners. She also loved to play golf with her girlfriends at Belmont Country Club, along with coffee and biscotti at La Boulangerie in Fig Garden Village.
Josephine is survived by her four sons: Joseph Gutilla Jr. and wife Bernadette, Steven Gutilla and wife Karen, Christopher Gutilla and wife Jamie, and Matthew Gutilla. Sister Carol DiLecce and brother Dan Giordano Jr. and wife Joan. Along with her eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Josephine and the Gutilla Family are forever grateful for the three caretakers that assisted her later in life. Special thanks to Veronica, Nori, and Marilyn for their compassion, gentleness, and service. Also, the comfort care team at Clovis Community Hospital led by Lauren and Shaena.
A visitation for Josephine will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720 followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fresno, 5770 N. Maroa Ave., Fresno, CA 93704.
