The daughter of Glenn and Mescal Price of Ponca City, Oklahoma, she was born on September 9, 1940. Jo Ann was the middle child of four children and preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Lefebur, brother Raymond Price and parents Glenn and Mescal Price as well as her loving and faithful husband of 58 years, James Heintz.
Jim and Jo Ann met through mutual friends in Wichita Kansas and married soon thereafter. They moved to southern California, started their family, and eventually settled and raised their three children in Porterville. Upon retirement, they moved to the Central Coast and then chose to settle in Paradise, California. We moved them to Fresno just six months before the devastating Camp Fire that would end up taking their home and community.
Jo Ann was loved by all who knew her and was very intuitive to those who needed an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on. Her home was open to anyone, any day, or any time. From Thanksgiving dinner to snacks after the football game, or her Minestrone Soup Parties. She was a nurturer. Jo Ann loved to learn and was especially interested in medicine. She was a voracious reader, loved her crossword puzzles and enjoyed taking her family camping and fishing along the California coast.
Jo Ann is survived by her brother David Price, her son James Heintz, Jr., daughters Jenee’ Collin and Juliane Montgomery, sons-in-law David Collin and Jason Montgomery. She leaves behind 7 amazing grandchildren - Evan, Kelsey and Megan Collin, Jason, Caroline, Daniel, and Sadie Montgomery.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Palm Village Retirement Community and Bright Horizon’s Hospice who provided such loving care and a beautiful home during her last 18 months.
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Fresno with Jo Ann’s children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the community of Paradise, CA at www.rebuildparadise.org.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.whitehurstsullivan.com for the Heintz family.
