My deepest condolences to you. I met Mrs. Vaz a couple of times and she was very sweet and loved her family, but most of all she was a servant to God. 

My mere words will not ease your pain especially through this difficult time, but now she is in the loving arms of God and with her beloved son.  I will continue to pray for the family, that they find peace and healing.

I meet Maria & her family when I would stop by to buy fruits, we would talk stories. She was such a Nice person and she will be miss by everyone.  Maria may you RIP till we meet again.  Aloha

Marie was a beautiful woman and we feel so special to have known her. We had some great times, BBQ's, Parties and work time together.  We have not seen her for many years as lives always seem to make things impossible with work and job changes.  You start families of your own and before you know it you are disconnected. Marie was never forgotten and we talked about our special times with her often.  I wish for peace with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.  Please know you are thought of in this difficult time, and our prayers are with you.

My first memory of Marie was weekends in the sacristy. She would make the necessary provisions for bringing  the Eucharist to people who were too ill or aged to come to mass.  That is a generosity she exhibited that we will always cherish here at St Marys.

So very sorry for your loss! Your mother was a wonderful woman who always greeted us with a smile and good conversation. We were blessed to know her. To. My Godmother Marie,
We did not have a lot of contact as I married and started a family. The wonderful memories that I have are my younger years when the aunts, uncles and cousins all gathered in Lemoore at Aunt Mamie’s ranch.. Eating pomegranates right off the tree. Enjoying all of the Portuguese traditions and the greatest sweetbread ever baked. I will cherish the conversations that we did have at the Portuguese hall where you were so proud to see your grandchildren in the parade. 
I know your cousin Nancy ( my mom who passed recently) would tell stories of her childhood which included you Marie as a very close cousin along with the rest of the cousins that spent alot of time together. You can all gather again now and look down on the rest of us and talk and visit like the past.

Sra. Vaz was so hospitable the day I first met her when I was visiting Yvette from Canada.  I was pregnant with my first child and she gave me a silver dollar coin for my daughter for good fortune.  We still have that coin and it will be passed down and I will tell them that a beautiful generous woman gave it to me. 🥰❤️

Yvette, though I didn’t meet your precious mother until just a couple of years ago, she held a very special place in my heart. It was easy to see that she was a loving, caring woman that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. I am grateful for the short amount of time I spent talking to her and getting to know her. I will miss her and her warm, beautiful smile. Praying for all of you to find peace and comfort in the memories you hold dear.

I always enjoyed my talks with Marie when I came to visit the family. She asked about my family and wanted to know what they were doing.  I will cherished those conversations with her.  Yvette, thank you for sharing your mom with me.

I am so sorry for your loss and pray that God may give your family strength during this difficult time.  My most vivid memory of Marie was her smile and boisterous laugh. She had a warmth about her that immediately made you feel welcomed. Marie would light up when she saw her grandkids - and kindly extended this same warm welcome to our kids too. Thank you for welcoming us into your home and sharing your family with us. May she Rest In Peace. 

My sincere condolences to Janet's family....She and I taught CCD at St. Mary for many years.  What I vividly recall when I think of her, was her wide welcoming smile  and her sense of humor.  May the Lord forgive her transgressions  and may the perpetual light shine upon her. Amen🙇‍♀️😔

When I first met Yvette, I was completely impressed meeting Marie - always was warm and welcoming - such a sweet soup - always there for her grown children and her grandkids and so on … going to miss her terribly -

Unfortunately I never got to know Marie well, however from the times I did chance to talk with her I remember her as a strong and quiet, loyal and loving woman to her family everyone she knew. Qualities you read and learn about in the Bible. Marie will do well in her new home...

Your mom was a sweet lady! She would  greet me with a smile and made me feel welcomed, anytime I stopped by.   What a blessing to have been taken care of so well and loved so much. Her memory and spirt will live on in our hearts. May she rest in peace. 

My condolences  Abe, Yvette and family.  Marie was a very nice lady and I always enjoyed talking with her.  She had a great sense of humor and always seemed happy, even when she wasn't feeling well. 
She loved  talking about her grandchildren and tought our Godson all the states and capitals at a young  age.  She was so proud of him when he named them all! Her devotion to her faith impressed me the most about her, truly  in love with our Lord and the church! Thank you Marie, for your example as a child of God and faithful servant.

Someone once said that life isn’t about the number of breathes you take, but the moments that take your breathe away. At 82 you not only had many breathes, but lived a life full of memories that took yours and our breathe away. You lived a life and followed your own road to happiness. Not paying attention to what others thought of you, but always stayed honest to yourself and the ones you loved so deeply.
Although it would take about 18 years until we were able to form a bond, it was special. As your first grand daughter you reminded me how much you thought of me during those years. During our first visit you gave me special items you collected from places you visited that you collected for all the grandchildren. You never excluded me and held onto hope that we would one day be brought together again. Your hope in life and ability to see the best in situations is what I admire most about you.
We were both given this unique situation, but it is because of you it is filled with cherished memories. I will forever be grateful that you drove down to meet Cobre and visit Ora during a pandemic last September. Know that your selflessness is extended beyond your years as your grandchildren and great grandchildren have learned through you the importance of family.
The memories you’ve made with us will last forever. The most wonderful gift you could ever give is the most special part of you now living in us forever. The truth your love has taught us can only be strengthened by the gift of time where roots grow deep and memories grow forever.
As time begins to show on the faces of our loved ones, we begin to listen more closely and seek out answers to questions we didn’t know we had. I took the time to listen in the limited time we shared together and as the tales began to unravel I began to see the woman you, my grandmother, were and how you became a heroine in your own autobiography. 

I remember going to Yvettes house when I was younger and Mrs. Vaz was so nice to me. All the years that followed she was the same sweet lady. She always asked about my family and we'd have nice conversations about family and life. I found out she collected angel figurines and I would always think of her when I saw an angel out and about. Janet now resides with the angels and is watching down on her beloved children and grandchildren.  May God touch your hearts, for she is at peace with Him now. Much love to your family.

I will never forget your mom’s laughter and the funny comments out of no where. As a child She would send me gifts for my birthday and Christmas that was so thoughtful of her. I cherish the statue of our Lady she gave me it’s  over 50 years old We are forever great full for your parents sponsoring our family to come to this country. Such a honor to be there Godchild and named after your mom.May she rest in Gods Arms❤️

Your mom was such special person. We have really enjoyed visiting with her and your family throughout the years. My father was always happy to see his “Prima Maria” and wanted to stay close with her since he had very little family here.  She had a funny sense of humor and a beautiful smile and always made us feel welcomed.   We would often times leave her house with fruits or nuts from her trees that she would give us as we were leaving. She was a strong catholic woman and a blessing to everyone.  We are truly going to miss her. May she Rest In Peace with the angels and all our loved ones in heaven.  

My uncle Januario in Portugal has sent me an email saying he was sad to hear of Maria’s passing and that she was a good person.  He sends his condolences to your whole family.

I loved Janet from day one!!  She was a sweetheart. She  had a beautiful smile, that lit up a room and made you feel happy. She was very welcoming, and had a peaceful spirit. I was always  amazed with her strong dedication for  her family and the Lord.  I was also impressed with her cross collection.  It was  impressive. My two daughters and husband were also touched by her.  We will never forget her.  I know she is now in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. Rest In Peace Janet.

My fondest memory of Mrs. Vaz, while growing up with her daughter Yvette and visiting the house Mrs Vaz always took time to talk to me and make me feel like the family.  You will forever be in my heart.  May you Rest In Peace. 

Yvette and family Tim and Iand our family loved your mom so very , Marie was a great lady always a caring heart ❤ she made me laugh she had the biggest  heart and listened and would guide if needed . She would give you the biggest hug and cry with you if needed. Tim and I called her momma Marie . I'm so sad for your families loss Yvette she will be missed by all who new her and loved her. I always remember going over to the Vaz household to visit my godson Lojah and she was usually sitting in the living room and she would visit with me ask me how I was doing and how my family was doing. She always had a smile on her face and she was a very special woman and I enjoyed talking with her every time I went over.

Your mom was a beautiful woman inside and out. I will miss seeing her at Mass and at the Celebrations. She will always be with you- comforting and guiding you always.
