Jim attended Houghton Elementary and Central Union High Schools. Jim graduated from Fresno State University in 1956, majoring in Viticulture with Professor Vince Petrucci as his mentor.
On June 9, 1956 Jim and Marjorie Stubblefield married in Woodlake, CA. Marjorie also graduated from Fresno State and together, immediately following their marriage they moved to Delano, CA where Jim served as a field manager for the Schenely Ranch’s. In 1957 Jim went to work for Chevron Chemical Company as a Field Representative, serving the Fresno area. During his career with Chevron, he advanced to Northern California District Manager, San Joaquin Valley District Manager, and finally as the Western Region Marketing Manager, supporting the marketing efforts from the Mississippi River to the west coast of the United States. Jim retired from Chevron in 1990 to spend full time farming his grapes and almonds. In addition, a consulting company was established in partnership with son Paul. The operation included pest management, market research and independent experts in viticulture.
Jim was also active in various community activities. He was a long time member of the Viticulture Alumni, serving as president, and was recognized as Outstanding Alumnus. Jim served on the board of Ag One for 15 years, where he also served their as president as well. Jim also served on the Fresno State Ag Foundation Board as president and member for 14 years. Additionally, a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as both a Deacon and an Elder as well.
Jim’s favorite hobby was golf. He chaired several tournaments and participated in the PPGA, Ag One Turf Day, and Raisin Tournaments. After his retirement from Chevron, he could be found playing golf at Fig Garden Golf Course three days a week with the “early bird” group. He and Marjorie traveled extensively throughout the USA and many countries in Europe. Jim also enjoyed being at the family home in Cayucos with family, beach walking, fishing, and enjoying the fine seafood served in the area.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, Peter and Rose Wulf, and daughters Susan and Melissa. He is survived by his loving and wonderful wife, Marjorie, son Paul and his wife Jeanette of Fresno, and daughter Karen Wright and her husband John of Monterey. Also grandchildren Sarah Clevenger, Joshua Wulf, Noelle Wulf, Sander Wulf, Jared Wulf, Sarah Wright and Ian Wright as well as seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his Sister Charlene Voorneveld.

Visitation will be held from 4pm - 7pm Wednesday August 18th at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel 202 N Teilman Ave Fresno, CA 93706. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30am Thursday August 19th at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 50 E Santa Ana Ave, Fresno, CA 93704
