James was born on March 22, 1943 and was named James Bernard Lamm. James and his brother, George, lost their father at a young age. In 1965, their step-father adopted them, changing James’ name to James Lamm Garrity. James is preceded by his mother, Victoria (Tya) Loretta Garrity, maiden name, Cyr, and his step-father, John Leo Garrity.
James served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1979. Before receiving an honorable discharge in 1979, James was a NCOIC of the Improved Hawk Firing Section Maintenance. During his service, among other various places, James was stationed at the DMZ in Korea from 1977 to 1978, where he was a Maintenance NCOIC of the Maintenance Section and the Section Chief of the Firing Section. His duties included, but not limited to, direct responsibility for the welfare and training of 30 men. Finally, during his time in the United States Army, James received many medals, including a National Defense Service medal and a Good Conduct medal.
James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Garrity; his only child, his daughter, Victoria Garrity; his brother, George Garrity; and his cousin, Jim Martin.
