Born on November 28, 1931, in Fresno, California, Gloria's early life was marked by her remarkable resilience and dedication. At just 11 years old, she took on the responsibility of caring for her four brothers and two sisters while her parents worked to provide for the family.
Gloria grew up in the Sanger Apostolic Church, where her love for music and worship began. At 13, she was entrusted with leading the children's choir during Pastor Jesus Valdez and First Lady Esther Valdez's absence. This early leadership role ignited her lifelong passion for praising and worshiping the Lord through music.
In March 1959, Gloria felt the call of the Lord and was baptized by Pastor Reyes Coronado. Within a year of her baptism, she received the Holy Spirit during a prayer meeting at her local church, deepening her spiritual journey.
Gloria dedicated many years to serving the Apostolic Dorcas Ladies Auxiliary Ministry, both locally and within the Central California District. Her leadership extended to becoming the choir director for the Apostolic Dorcas Ladies Auxiliary Ministry in her local church and district.
At 18, Gloria met Joe G. Torres, and they were united in marriage on March 20, 1950. Their 36-year union was marked by love and devotion until Joe's passing on October 11, 1986. After being widowed for 18 years, Gloria found love again with Daniel S. Moya, and they were married in February 2005.
Gloria is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel S. Moya; her son, Joe R. Torres; her daughters, Dora Soto (Fred Soto) and Diane Fregoso (Benjamin Fregoso); and her cherished grandchildren, Jason and Ryan Fregoso, Marco Soto, Kristen Soto Caballero, and seven great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held at the Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
