Frank P. Carollo was born in Fresno, CA on October 20th, 1925, and passed away at the age of 95 years young on January 18th, 2021. He was the fourth child of six born to Pietro and Angelina Carollo. In his youth he and his brothers helped their father in the family produce business. He attended Roosevelt High School where he played varsity football and subsequently became a Golden Gloves boxer. His career with Greyhound Bus Company began after high school as a ticket agent, working up to bookkeeper until his retirement four decades later. Very significantly, it was in his early years with the company that he met a lovely young Julia Butryn, originally from Ohio, who worked as a waitress in the Greyhound cafeteria before she began her career with AT&T. They married at St. John’s Cathedral in 1952 and their long marriage up until Julia’s death in 2017 was an enduring example of love, laughter, faith and generosity to their beloved extended family and their many dear friends. Together Julia and Frank enjoyed golf, travel, Table Mountain, and taking joyful part in the countless milestones of the families of their many nieces and nephews: Baptisms, First Holy Communions, Confirmations, graduations, weddings, anniversary celebrations, etc. Our Uncle Frank had a great sense of humor and was quite the storyteller, as well as being gifted with a memory that endured til the end, regaling us with local color and history and the recounting of adventures with family and friends. He was a man of great heart that lives on in a legacy of deep love for his family. The wisdom, faith, and concern of Uncle Frank and Aunt Julie guided us, and their great love for their nieces and nephews and close friends lightened all of our lives and has truly blessed us. They are survived by three generations of grateful extended family and friends.
Our family would like to thank the employees of A+ In Home Care for their loving caregiving to our uncle, as well as his longtime physicians including Dr. David Taylor and Dr. John Telles, and the staff at Saint Agnes Medical Center.
There will be a private service that will be available for streamed viewing as of Feb. 9th, 2021 (through the website: holyspiritfresno.org). This will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
