Born in Oleander, California, she was the cherished ninth child of Esther and Elmer Robinson. Florence's formative years were spent in Oleander, attending Oleander Elementary and Washington Union High School in Easton, California.
At the age of 20, she married her soulmate, Donald Badertscher, and together they embarked on a journey of love and commitment that would span 68 years. As Donald served in the military, the couple lived in Virginia before returning to Easton to settle at the family dairy farm
Their love bloomed into a beautiful family, as they welcomed their first son, Steven, followed by Jeffrey and later, their daughter, Michelle. Florence's devotion to her family was limitless, her love extending to her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Florence's passion for the Arts, both artistic and expressive, was evident throughout her life. A lover of literature, she had a special fondness for children's books and attended numerous workshops with authors who inspired her. Her treasured collection of signed children's books serves as a testament to her adoration for the written word.
Her dedication to education led her to a fulfilling career as a librarian at American Union Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless students over her 20-year tenure. Florence had the privilege of learning from and being mentored by Dr. Arne Nixon, whose animated storytelling fueled her passion for children's literature.
