Roy, as he liked to be called, grew up in the Fresno Westside neighborhood called Germantown. Roy was friendly, social and neat. He loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He attended Roosevelt High School until he turned 18, April 20, 1944. He was then drafted into the United States military during WWII. Roy proudly served in the US Army, Asiatic Pacific Theater, Luzon, Philippines. When discharged from the Army, he attended Fresno Technical High School to finish his education and graduate in 1946. Roy married in 1947. He worked for the US Postal Service for 34 years until retirement. He was a member of the Cross Church, Edison Social Club for over 60 years, the Model A Ford Club of America and the Sierra Chapter for 22 years.
Roy was preceded in death by Dorothy, his wife of 46 years. He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Janice Diane. Roy is survived by his daughters Janet Potts of Fresno, CA and Susan Oberti of Granite Bay, CA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Karen Potts-Peterson, Laura Potts-Nevel, Jeffrey Oberti, Melissa Oberti and three great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11am. Remembrances may be made to the Disabled American Veterans of Central California.
