Edward Lehman, age 87, was born on September 22, 1925, in Fresno, California and passed away peacefully on Monday, February 11, 2013, at Willow Creek Health Center. He was the son of David Lehman and Mary Christina Lehman, Volga Germans who had emigrated from Russia.
Edward grew up in Fresno and graduated from Edison High School. He served during World War II in the United States Navy from 1943-1945 aboard several ships in the Pacific. In 1949 he married Elaine Knight and they began a life together that spanned 60 years. They owned and operated Twin Palms Liquor Store for 22 years. They both served as volunteers at Fresno Community Medical Center for many years and Edward continued his volunteer work there until this last year.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Lehman; father, David Lehman; mother, Mary Christina Lehman; brother, William Lehman; and grandson, Charles Lehman.
He is survived by his sister, Jean Zoller of Roseville; son, Brian Lehman and his wife Julie of Clovis; daughter, Lynn Sargenti of Fresno; grandson, Colby Lehman and his wife Crystal of Las Vegas and their children Randy and Trinity; granddaughter, Carly Grainger and her husband Thor of Fresno; grandson, Sean Sargenti; great-granddaughter Alexis and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Friday, February 15, 2013, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Graveside Service at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
